What Are the Best Paid Careers?

When looking at the best paid careers, you also need to consider which of these best paying careers are also projected to be growing careers in future years.

After all, the best careers for the future will be those that are not only high paying, but still "hot" over the next few years.

Best Paid Careers Projected to Grow Fast

Here are a few of the relatively high-paying careers that the US Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts will also grow quickly in the coming years...

  • Physicians and surgeons
  • CEOs
  • Podiatrists
  • Lawyers
  • Optometrists
  • Athletes and sports competitors
  • Computer and information systems managers
  • Marketing managers
  • Sales managers
  • Chiropractors

Other up and coming best paid careers would include: health services managers, physician assistants, market research analysts, physical therapists, and dental hygienists.

Clearly, health care is not only a lucrative, but a much-needed career path. Is there a health care career in your future?

Let me caution you against choosing your next career based only on how much money you stand to make. Sure, we all like having money. It makes paying the bills and getting the things we want a lot easier, doesn't it?

But the old adage that "money can't buy happiness" is true. Think about it. For most of us, when we choose a career, we'll be spending at least half of our waking hours in that career.

Shouldn't you be doing something you love?

If you can find a career path that promises to be one of the best paid careers AND it's something you think you'd enjoy doing, great!

But if not, carefully consider your choices before making a decision. In the end, the best paid careers are those that pay off not only in dollars, but also in satisfaction and happiness.

What If You Just Want to Make More In Your Current Job?

Wouldn't it be great if you could simply say... "I want the biggest salary with lots of perks," regardless of your talents or skills?

Sure, but what you need to understand is that none of us can command high career salaries without considering the value we can offer our employer.

Everyone would like to earn a salary in the TOP 75% percentile of employees but work has to be done with skills/talents/energy before payroll cuts our check.

If you focus on your passion - your interests - when choosing a career, you're more likely to select the kind of career path that will lead to the best career salaries. Because if you love your job, you'll give it your all.

Remember, all career salaries are connected to the ROI (return on investment) that your bring to your employer. It's unfair to expect BIG bucks for little value.

So, if you want to get a big raise (and keep seeing your salary go up), think about what you can offer your employer in return.

Going back to my previous point about the importance of being happy in your job, the article below is worth a read...

Getting the Job that's Right for You

I'm the type of person that considers a healthy, enjoyable job a lot more valuable than a high paying one. This may be a foreign concept to some people as our society continues to descend into the depths of materialism. I'd gladly take a job doing something I loved and with people I enjoyed for a bit less money than I would have pocketed working at the vomitoriam.

So, amidst the whirlwind of resumes, applications and soul scorching interviews, take a moment to consider the environment of your workplace-to be. Have a chat with one of the low-level employees, and if they stare back at you with dull dead eyes, then you might want to reconsider your placement.

Even if you're not making the big bucks right away, even the most un-motivated types will quickly rise in the ranks due the enjoyment of the work. It's as simple as this "we like to do what we like to do". And trust me, if you think finding such a job impossible, know that people get paid to do all kinds of strange and even fun things. Take for instance the professional wine taster. Or perhaps the guy who gets to test the water slides after their manufacturing.

Remember to keep these words in the back of your mind, and hopefully you'll find the job that's really right for you.
