The Career Key is one place you can go and answer a few mulitiple choice questions and be presented with some possible career options that will suit you. It's a pretty basic, but well-done, career interest survey/career interest test. They've been around for more than 20 years, and many schools and libraries recommend them. We put together our own little Career Interest Survey. But it's not a career interest test, per se... just a survey where you can share your career interests with the rest of our readers. Won't you try it now?
GreatOaks.com, an Institute of Technology and Career Development, has a very basic career interest survey you can take. It has 8 different sections, each with about 10 activities you answer yes or no to, in regards to your interest in them. You have to calculate your totals yourself to see which careers they recommend based on your answers. Here's another career interest test at the University of South Africa that you could try: UNISA. They say "To choose a career you should carefully consider who you are, what your interest, abilities and personal qualities are. Added to that you need a thorough knowledge about as many careers as possible." Hmmm... great advice. Their career assessment test is 84 questions and takes about 20 minutes to do. Or, try "Googling" the term "career interest survey" and see what comes up. Have fun!
What you're going to find is that most of these career interest tests are pretty similar. Like the career choice quiz and the career aptitude tests discussed in other sections of this site, they're simply a jumping off point, if you will, a place to start when assessing your career options. The final decision must come from a well-thought out career plan. Back to top of Career Interest Survey |
